Preliminary Study on the Current State and Future Development Plans for Cognitive Rehabilitation in Korea Based on an Expert Delphi Study

Abstract
Objective: This study is to investigate the current status, problems, and improvements of domestic occupational therapy cognitive rehabilitation, and to derive necessary matters for the future development of cognitive rehabilitation.

Methods: The first Delphi survey was conducted with 16 experts panel using open-ended questions formed through focus group discussions. The second Delphi survey was conducted by reorganizing the questionnaire into closed-ended questions. The mean, standard deviation, CVR, stability, convergence, and consensus were analyzed with the second Delphi data.

Results: As a result of the first Delphi survey, 104 items were derived. As a result of the second Delphi survey, 41 items which was less than .49 of CVR value were removed, and 63 items were finally selected. The items with the highest content validity ratio for each question were ¡®Organization of subjects related to cognitive rehabilitation in the university curriculum, ¡®Lack of standardized occupational performance-based cognitive assessment tools¡¯, ¡®Insufficient connection between improvement by cognitive skills and improvement in occupational performance¡¯, ¡®Insufficient insurance coverage for cognitive rehabilitation¡¯, ¡®Occupational performance-based cognitive impairment assessment and intervention ability¡¯, ¡®Occupational performance-based cognitive assessment tool¡¯, and ¡®task performance-based cognitive rehabilitation¡¯.
Conclusion: The current state of cognitive rehabilitation in occupational therapy and the matters to be strived for in the future were investigated through expert Delphi survey. Based on this study, it is expected that research for the development of domestic cognitive rehabilitation will be actively conducted in Occupational therapy.
